After months of rumors and corridor noise, Apple has just presented its new iPhone 17s. If the standard model is still there, alongside the Pro and Pro Max versions, the great novelty of this cuvée is the iPhone Air.

It replaces the iPhone Plus, with a whole new design. The iPhone Air is an ultra-fine smartphone just 5.5 millimeters thick. A thin waist, which could pose some autonomy problems.

Say hello to the little new

Apple has always treated the aesthetics of its smartphones, but the iPhone Air takes a CAP. With its aluminum frame and 5.5 mm thick, it becomes the finest iPhone ever produced, approaching the “air” philosophy already applied to MacBook. Its featherweight, 165 g, contrasts with the solidity of the titanium chassis, available in four colors. The 6.5 -inch OLED promotion screen retains a fluidity at 120 Hz and promises reinforced brightness, while integrating the new “Liquid Glass” design supposed to improve resistance.

Contrary to what we could have feared by a model centered on design, Apple did not sacrifice performance. The iPhone Air is equipped with the A19 Pro chip which benefits from 12 GB of RAM, the level of the pro versions. The expected result: Fluid navigation, better multitasking management and comfortable margin for iOS 26 and its new AI features, such as the Liquid Glass interface and the further integration of Apple Intelligence.

In terms of connectivity, the air resolutely turns the page of the past: ESIM only, no physical location for SIM card. Added to this is the house modem C1, the first network chip designed directly by Apple, supposed to improve stability and autonomy.

A referred but efficient camera?

On the photo pane, Apple opted for simplicity. The iPhone 17 Air has a 48 MP rear sensor, supported by a 24 Mp front camera for selfies and video calls. No ultra-large-angle or telephoto lens, but Apple bets on the effectiveness of its software processing and on more realistic daily uses. The objective is clear: to seduce users who want beautiful images without going through an armada of sensors.

A battery that raises questions

One of the sensitive points of such a fine design is obviously the battery. If Apple has not communicated detailed figures during the presentation, leaks evoke a lower capacity than that of the more and pro models. The firm puts here on the optimizations of the A19 and on iOS 26 to maintain a full day of autonomy.

The iPhone Air will be available for pre -order on September 12, for a world release on September 19. Its Price begins from € 1,229 (256GB) up to € 1729 (1TB).
