Apple is gearing up to unveil the iPhone 17 series during its fall event in September. At the event, the tech giant is also expected to launch the Apple Watch Ultra 3 with some big upgrades over its predecessor. A new leak has hinted at a larger and brighter display for the Watch Ultra 3.
According to a MacRumors report, the iOS 26 beta has some clues about the upcoming flagship smartwatch – which reveals a display resolution of 422 X 514 pixels. For reference, the current Apple Watch Ultra 2 offers a 410 x 502 pixels resolution. The display difference is likely due to an adjustment in the bezels, which are said to go slimmer with the next iteration. That said, Apple is unlikely to bump up the case size – bringing more screen estate to the same 49mm size.
Apple is also said to offer some major upgrades with the Watch Ultra 3. These may include satellite connectivity, allowing for communication in regions without cellular network – a welcoming feature for outdoor adventurers.
The Watch Ultra 3 is also rumoured to feature a brighter display with a higher refresh rate. Internally, the Apple Watch could be powered by the next-generation S11 chip for better performance, efficiency, and battery life.
The smartwatch could also see an improvement in health tracking features. Apple is rumoured to working on blood pressure monitoring, though it is still unclear if they feature will make it to the Watch Ultra 3. As with the previous two generations, the third iteration is also expected to retain the rugged build and titanium frame.
A recent leak pointed towards a September 9 launch event for the iPhone 17 series, where we might also witness the unveiling of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. To recall, the Watch Ultra 2 made its debut last year on September 9 alongside the iPhone 16 series at Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event.
