Apple is making it easy for users to move from AppleCare+ to the new AppleCare One plan, and some customers are getting a gift card in the process.
AppleCare One launched on July 24 as a monthly subscription that covers multiple devices under one plan. It supports iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and more, with pricing that scales as you add more hardware.
If you already have an AppleCare+ plan, you can cancel it when signing up for AppleCare One. Apple will automatically refund any remaining balance on your previous plan as an Apple Gift Card.
You’ll get an email once your new plan is active, and the card can be used toward other Apple purchases. There’s nothing extra you need to do — the credit is processed automatically after the switch.
How the switch works & what to expect
You won’t get a big banner or push alert about AppleCare One. Instead, the option to switch shows up when you open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your name at the top, then go to Subscriptions. If you’re eligible, you’ll see AppleCare One listed there with a prompt to switch plans.
The flow is simple and doesn’t require a trip to Apple’s website. You pick your tier, confirm your devices are in good condition, and agree to cancel your old AppleCare+ plan. That’s it.
Apple handles the rest, including refunding the unused portion of your existing plan as an Apple Gift Card. The email shows up once the new plan activates.
You don’t need to do anything extra to get the credit. It’s automatic, and you can use it like any other Apple Gift Card.
The standard AppleCare One plan starts at $19.99 a month for three devices. You can add more devices for $5.99 each. All devices must be in good condition, but they don’t have to be newly purchased.
The move helps simplify coverage across Apple’s product ecosystem, especially for people who own multiple devices. The automatic gift card refund is a nice bonus for users transitioning from older AppleCare+ plans.
