The F1 movie continues its hot streak at cinemas, with the film still widely resonating with audience a month after its theatrical premiere. The Apple Original Film has now crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office, with the running total now standing around $509 million.

F1: The Movie will eventually land on Apple TV+, likely in October. But Apple and distributor Warner Bros. have little incentive to hurry along the secondary release windows if the cinema takings remain as strong as they are.

So far, the film has taken in about $165 million in the United States and $344 million internationally. In another week, it will have outgrossed the takings of all previous Apple original films combined.

F1 debuted on June 27, about a month ago, with a $145 million opening weekend. This was above many industry expectations.

While the domestic performance has been somewhat average, the movie has excelled in many international markets. It has been such a success that F1 is getting an IMAX re-release in August, which should propel another boost of ticket sales.

It is currently expected to end its theatrical run above $550 million. As the film was so expensive to make, the break-even point for Apple is probably closer to a $600 million total box office, however. Nevertheless, Apple will be thrilled with the title’s theatrical performance as it gives them a wide awareness crowd-pleaser almost ‘for free’ for its streaming service catalog.

Apple’s long-term ambitions for cinema movies remains unclear. While it continues to produce a significant number of original movies, it has yet to promise a wide theatrical run for any film on its upcoming slate. Straight-to-streaming is its primary strategy.

For the rest of 2025, for instance, Denzel Washington leads Highest 2 Lowest, which lands on Apple TV+ on September 5, followed by The Lost Bus starring Matthew McConaughey.
