What this means for ERP Insiders
IPA becoming standard within ERP stack. Through development and acquisition, ERP providers are increasingly adding IPA to their capabilities, as AI, ML and RPA use cases advance and mature. Common IPA applications within ERP include automation of invoicing, expense approvals, reconciliation, demand forecasting, inventory optimization, supplier onboarding, payroll processing, employee onboarding, compliance tracking, order processing, customer support automation, and personalized marketing campaigns. Looking forward, IPA is likely to contribute to trends like hyperautomation, with the integration of IPA with AI, and IoT for deeper process automation. Also, we are likely to see more autonomous ERP systems, shepherded to the fore in part by IPA, moving towards self-learning ERPs capable of automating and optimizing processes without human intervention. Democratization of automation is already happening, with wider accessibility to IPA through low-cost, scalable solutions. And with sustainability and ESG objectives’ increasing prominence on the corporate agenda, companies will leverage IPA in ERP systems to monitor and enhance sustainability initiatives and ESG compliance.
