The highly-anticipated PC handhelds from Microsoft and Asus are inching closer to their mid-October release. You can now preorder both of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally consoles, but you may struggle to find stock.

Microsoft’s X account posted to say the ROG Xbox Ally X preorders were already sold out on its Xbox Store in all markets. So far, the base model remains in stock in the US.

Stock of the ROG Xbox Ally X has also begun to sell out on the Asus website, where Microsoft had pushed buyers to go. PCMag was able to add a console to our cart, but others have struggled to pick up the console there. It appears stock is flickering in and out, so you’ll have to get lucky if you want to buy directly from Asus.

Best Buy continues to have stock at the time of publication, but it’s unclear how long that will remain the case. Demand appears to be high for the console, or it may be this is a limited first run for both handhelds.

Preorders mean we also know the price. The ROG Xbox Ally costs $599.99, and the ROG Xbox Ally X jumps to $999.99. If you manage to get a preorder for one of the gadgets, you’ll be receiving it on Oct. 16.

That’s also likely when we’ll begin to see restocks at various retailers. The ROG Xbox Ally X comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, while the ROG Xbox Ally comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

Late last week, Lenovo had a similar situation where it began canceling some of its Legion Go 2 handheld preorders. Lenovo said demand “substantially exceeded” its expectations. Many customers have been left unhappy, with some orders being pushed into November and others being canceled outright.
