Asus will reportedly open preorders for its upcoming handheld gaming consoles – the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X – starting August 20 in Europe. These new gaming devices, developed in partnership with Microsoft, are expected to launch alongside a major Xbox event at Gamescom 2025. The devices will likely go on sale in October this year.

As per a Dealabs report, the standard ROG Xbox Ally is expected to be priced at EUR 599 (around Rs 59,900), while the ROG Xbox Ally X could cost EUR 899 (around Rs 89,900). These prices are consistent with earlier leaks from June.

While Asus and Microsoft have yet to make an official announcement, Microsoft has confirmed a Gamescom presentation on August 20 at 3 PM CEST (6:30 PM IST), hinting at a possible product showcase.
Gamers attending Gamescom 2025 will reportedly be able to try out a demo version of Hollow Knight: Silksong on the ROG Xbox Ally X. Other supported titles include popular games like Roblox, Sea of Thieves, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, which are already available on other platforms.

Both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X feature a 7-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The displays also support FreeSync Premium and an anti-reflection DXC coating for better clarity. The ROG Xbox Ally is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip, paired with 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB storage, while the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X packs a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB RAM, and 1TB storage.
For connectivity, both models support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The standard Ally offers two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, while the Ally X comes with one USB4 Type-C and one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port. Each has a microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.
In terms of battery, the ROG Xbox Ally packs a 60Wh battery, while the ROG Xbox Ally X has a larger 80Wh unit, with both supporting 65W fast charging. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X weigh 670g and 715g, respectively.
