Volkswagen's Audi- and Porsche brands recall thousands of vehicles in the US due to various software problems.

Audi recalls more than 44,000 of its vehicles due to a software problem so that the instrument panel can fail.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that certain Audi cars of the 2021 model year are influenced by the problem that allows the virtual cockpit instrument cluster to be closed.

"An instrument panel display that shows no critical safety information, such as the speedometer or warning lights, increases the risk of a crash," the NHTSA said in the recall.

The recall relates to the A6, A6 All Road, A & A8, Q7, Q8, RS 6 Avant, RS 7, RS Q8, S6, S7, S8, SQ7 and SQ8, with a total of 44,387 cars that may be influenced by the issue.

About 2% of the vehicles that are included in the recall can have the problem, but dealers will update the instrument panel module software for free, says the recall report.

Owners of the vehicles will be informed on 30 May.

Separately, the NHTSA said that 8,571 Porsche Macan produced electric vehicles that are produced in 2024 and 2025 are recalled due to a problem with the rear view camera that can produce a blurred image or cannot be displayed, that drives federal safety standards for motor vehicles over the visibility of the rear.

"A rear view camera that does not display an image reduces the visibility of the driver, which increases the risk of a crash," said it.

All vehicles in the recall is expected to suffer from the defect.

Dealers will update the software for the control unit and if necessary, free, free, which is expected to be informed if their vehicle is included in the recall in the recall before 6 June.

In addition, an airbag problem has been found in certain vehicles from 2022-2023 Porsche Taycan.

The NHTSA said that 9,735 vehicles are being recalled due to a system error that could deactivate the airbag for passengers for passengers.

Approximately 3% of the vehicles that are included in the recall may be influenced by the problem.

Dealers will replace the pillow of the front passenger seat for free, whereby owners are expected to report a notification before 6 June.

Audi and Porsche did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
