THERE is no right way to announce that your next game is in development, but some reveals are louder than others.
EA has just announced that the next entry in the Battlefield series is currently in development, and despite being in a pre-alpha state, is looking for playtesters.

Usually, entries in major series like this are announced in some form of showcase, but this reveal came without fanfare.
The last entry in the series, 2021’s Battlefield 2042, was extremely unpopular with fans thanks to numerous game-breaking bugs at launch.
Updates, DLC, and bug fixes were frequently released for the game all the way until 2024, but the damage to Battlefield’s reputation had already been done.
Before Battlefield 2042, the series was held in high esteem, with entries all rated in the high 80s.
Following the lacklustre launch, EA took a step back from Battlefield, even cancelling the development of Battlefield mobile.
Finally we know the future of the franchise, as EA has revealed a new entry that is currently under the name Battlefield Labs.
A brief trailer for the upcoming games gave us a tiny snippet of what is to come, but it mostly serves as an invitation to a Battlefield Labs playtest.
EA has confirmed that the upcoming game will still be split into multiplayer modes and single-player missions and campaigns.
The publisher has warned that the game will in no way be completed by the playtest, and that players will have to sign an NDA, ensuring that they don’t tell anyone about it.
EA says: “Even in pre-alpha, we are proud of where the game is at.
“We tirelessly playtest, but your feedback will supercharge our development as we strive to hit that perfect note between form, function, and feel.”
EA is hoping to recruit tens of thousands of playtesters, and the publisher is devoting four development studios to the upcoming game.
The publisher is hoping to right the wrongs of the last Battlefield game, and says that the next title will be returning to the “core” of the series.
Overall, the upcoming game is supposedly the most ambitious game EA has ever developed.
