Between Black Friday and Christmas, the frantic race for end-of-year gifts has begun. For delivery services, this means hundreds of thousands of packages to be delivered before the end of the month. For scammers of all stripes, the period is above all synonymous with opportunities. If you plan to order and receive your Christmas gifts at relay points or directly at your home, be careful. As our colleagues at Parisian, the period promises to be marked by phishing campaigns and parcel scams.
Dozens of fake sites
It was on the Signal-Arnaques platform that the phenomenon was singled out: this Monday on X, the site reported “no less than 20 fraudulent domain names” imitating the URL of the carrier Mondial Relay had been identified. Innocent-looking URLs, such as delivery-modialrelay.fr, or mon-service-mondial-relay.fr, which impersonate the company to deceive the trust of Internet users.

Equipped with an email address or a telephone number from an external data leak, the hackers take on the role of a carrier, to inform their target that their package is blocked in a sorting center, or that it requires re-delivery in the near future. Without being suspicious, the Internet user is then invited to click on a link, and is then instructed to enter their personal and banking details in order to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Obviously, the message in question does not come from the postal company, and the scammers behind this scam are actually trying to empty your bank account.
What to do if you have been trapped?
If you have been the victim of this well-crafted phishing attempt, it is better to react quickly. First thing to do, contact your bank to make opposition to your bank card. This step is essential, since it will prevent fraudulent use of your account, while justifying your good faith to the authorities in the event of a suspicious transfer already made.
It will then be necessary to report the fraudulent page to the platform Perceval. Created in 2018, the latter ensures the link between the authorities and victims of phishing or phishing attempts, even when no legal proceedings are initiated. It also makes it possible to report recurring scams, and to facilitate the indictment of pirates if necessary. Finally, we advise you to adopt good reflexes to minimize your chances of being a victim of hacking.
