While typically known for its burgers and fries, White Castle is once again offering some delectable seafood options, per a news release.
That includes the Shrimp Nibblers, which are available starting now until April 20 or while supplies last at all of White Castle’s around 345 locations nationwide excluding Florida.
Shrimp Nibblers come in small, medium, or snack sizes and are “bite-sized butterfly shrimp coated in a seasoned batter and fried to golden, crispy perfection.”
White Castle sought to offer customers who observe the Lenten season an option on the menu that’s non-meat.
To that end, along with the Shrimp Nibblers, the Fish Nibblers made from wild Alaskan pollock are also available at the chain.
They too are offered to customers until April 20, and also exclude Florida-based locations.
FISH FAVORITES
Panko Fish Sliders, also wild Alaskan pollock-based, are available throughout the year, even after the deadline for the Shrimp and Fish Nibblers.
Sarah Wallace, a spokesperson for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, emphasized the “quality and flavor” White Castle customers will find in the fish-based offerings.
“Sourced from the pristine waters of Alaska, our fish have a natural sweetness and mild flavor that elevate White Castle’s Fish Nibblers and Panko Fish Sliders to a whole new level of deliciousness,” Wallace noted in the release.
This was further verified by Craig Morris, CEO of the Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP).
“Made from sustainably harvested, 100% whole fillets of wild Alaska pollock, White Castle’s Panko Fish Sliders, and Fish Nibblers, provide a great tasting experience for consumers on the go,” Morris said.
The Shrimp Nibbler offering is also reminiscent of the removed endless shrimp promotion at Red Lobster.
It notably backfired, causing a considerable dip in sales and ultimately led Red Lobster to file for bankruptcy last year and conduct mass closures.
After exiting, however, thanks to RL Investor Holdings LLC, Red Lobster is back and recently confirmed the launch of the “Greatest Lobsterfest of All Time.”
