A BELOVED pastor who shook up the Evangelical church with calls for social justice has died after suffering through a years-long health battle.
Tony Campolo died at 89 years old after a lifetime of Christian ministry and political activism.
Campolo was a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who authored 35 books and advised former President Bill Clinton throughout his rich 65-year career.
He was quick to call out Evangelical leaders and made some enemies by pointing out human suffering in the world to spur change among his parishioners.
The controversial pastor would start many sermons by telling his congregation how many children had died from hunger the day before.
“And most of you don’t give a s**t,” he would say, according to Christianity Today.
