Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner 2026: Hands-free floor cleaning
SHARE

A good vacuum cleaner will help you clean more quickly and more efficiently, a robot vacuum cleaner saves you even more time, as you don’t have to do anything apart from set it to go.

These are brilliant time-saving devices, getting most of the mess up, so when you do have to get the regular vacuum out, you’re only having to tackle edges and those hard-to-reach places.

Getting the right robot can be hard, as there are loads of models to choose from. Here, we’ve narrowed the choice down to the core robots available today that we’ve tested and would recommend. The list covers every budget and need, with some models even able to mop as well as vacuum.

We test all robot vacuum cleaners in the same way. The most important thing for a vacuum cleaner is its ability to clean, and we rank how well each cleaner does on hard floors and carpets, plus how well it can clean at the edges of the room.

Where a robot has a mop, we test how well it can clean general dirt and more tough ground-in stains. We tell you how well each one does, but for this test we take into account price; cheaper cleaners use basic drip-fed mops that get basic stains while more expensive cleaners can better scrub.

Quality robot vacuum cleaners should all be able to suck up dust well, but almost as important is how easy they are to use. Modern robot vacuum cleaners should, ideally, provide proper mapping, let you select which rooms and areas you want to clean, and those that you want to avoid. We let you know how easy each cleaner is to use and any pitfalls you may encounter.

Learn more about how we test vacuum cleaners

All of our robot vacuum cleaners are fully tested and we don’t recommend any products that we haven’t seen and used in the flesh. To compare robots, we put them through the same set of tests, including their ability to pick up dirt and, for those that mop, their floor cleaning prowess. We test each one using any smart assistant support that it has, and we see how well they can navigate our homes. For more information, read our guide to how we test robot vacuum cleaners.

With a mighty self-empty station, brilliant vacuuming and mopping ability and plenty of premium features, the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete is one of the best we’ve reviewed.

The robot itself is equipped with a retractable LiDAR dome that allows it to clean under low-lying furniture alongside cameras that use AI-based image recognition for a better clean and obstacle avoidance too.

Flip the robot over and you’ll find that, rather than traditional mopping pads, the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete sports a large roller that can slide out up to 40mm for better edge cleaning. That roller has an Autoseal Roller Protection System so when carpet is detected, or the robot is in vacuum-only mode, a plastic guard extends across the roller and everything lifts to prevent the carpet from getting wet.

Essentially this allows the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete to move seamlessly between hard floors and carpet without causing damage.

In addition, the robot has Dreame’s FluffRoll technology built in to help keep the roller’s fibres fluffy and better able to collect dirt. It’s a small yet thoughtful touch that keeps the roller working brilliantly.

To control the Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete, you’ll need to download Dreame’s smartphone app. Alongside typical robot vacuum features, including mapping and no-go zones, the Dreame app allows you to choose premium cleaning modes including CleanGenius which allows the robot to determine the level of mess and clean accordingly.

Overall we were blown away by the Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete’s 30,000Pa suction power, which makes it one of the most powerful robot vacuums on the market. With such power, it’s unsurprising that we concluded all carpets and floors were cleaned thoroughly without any visible dust leftover.

Mopping was equally impressive, with spills and dried-in messes sorted quickly. Yes, some trickier stains needed more than one pass with the robot, but that’s par for the course.

If you want the absolute best possible hands-free vacuuming and mopping, and don’t mind splurging for the privilege, then the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete is a brilliant choice.

  • Brilliant mopping with all of the options turned on

  • Powerful suction

  • Can fit under lots of bits of low furniture

Sitting at the top of Roborock’s range, the Roborock Saros 10 can do pretty much everything, and is packed with technology.

Cleverly, this robot has a LiDAR dome that can retract into its body, so the robot is just 79.8mm tall can can fit under most bits of furniture. Combined with the clever camera at the front, this robot can navigate easily and skirt around obstacles on the floor.

This robot also has an AdaptiLift chassis: it can lift its body to vacuum deep pile carpet, and it can climb thresholds of up to 4cm. With the ability to drop its sonic mop pads off when not needed, the Roborock Saros 10 can effectively go anywhere and cope with any type of environment.

It comes with a self-empty, self-cleaning docking station, which also takes detergent for improved floor cleaning. Overall, on a daily basis, the Roborock Saros 10 takes care of itself.

Performance is excellent. Tough spills are vacuumed easily on hard floors and carpet, thanks to the 22,000Pa suction power. Mopping is generally excellent, but we had to turn on some extra features to deal with the tough ketchup stain, which took six passes in total to remove.

Add in the anti-tangle main brush, and this is a great all-rounder that’s particularly well suited to homes with mixed flooring types.

  • Brilliant mopping

  • Very powerful

  • Relatively compact dock

  • Wrong floor types detected at times

  • Edge vacuuming could be better

The Narwal Flow benefits from a brilliant mopping system that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before – making it one of the best robot vacuums with a mop that we’ve ever tested.

While many robot vacuums use rollers for mopping, the Narwal Flow is equipped with a track mop that uses a cloth wrapped around a roller. This is the best of both worlds, and enables the Narwal Flow to work like both a roller and a traditional mop to agitate and clean dirt. It’s brilliant.

The track mop can also extend sideways outside the robot’s body for edge cleaning and lift 15mm off the ground to move over carpets, while the robot itself is able to climb up to 4cm high double thresholds too.

One area which lets the Narwal Flow down is with its app, as it can be frustrating to use at times. While the robot does have AI-powered dirt detection, we found it works best if you just manually adjust the settings yourself.

However, once you do adjust the settings then you’ll undoubtedly be impressed with the Narwal Flow’s performance. While its 22,000Pa power resulted in brilliant dust pick-up, where the robot particularly shines is with its mopping ability. Put simply, the Narwal Flow is a brilliant mop and, thanks to its large roller, makes light work of even tough stains.

Once it finishes cleaning, the self-cleaning dock will wash the mop pads at between 45°C and 75°C, choosing the temperature automatically based on how dirty the cloth is. Hot air drying takes care of the mop pad afterwards, making sure there’s no odour or bacteria build-up.

If your home is mainly made up of hard floors, then the Narwal Flow is easily the best possible robot vacuum and mop for you. Just stay patient with the app and you’ll reap the benefits.

  • Excellent hard floor cleaning

  • Brilliant roller mop system

  • Broad smart home support

  • Great value for money

  • Average carpet performance

  • Bulky, dated design

  • Noisy docking process

  • Weak corner cleaning

Anyone who wants a solid robot vacuum and mop but doesn’t want to spend a premium needs to consider the SwitchBot Floor Cleaning Robot S20. If you’re familiar with SwitchBot, specifically its S10 robot vacuum, then the S20 is recognisable with the same circular frame, three buttons and LiDAR tower up top. In addition, like the S10, the S20 has a few different docking options to choose from: the standard self-clean station or a plumbing connected option that handles water automatically. Realistically, the former should be enough for your needs, as long as you ensure you change the water tank regularly.

Setting up the S20 is simple, thanks to the SwitchBot app. In fact, although the S20 is undoubtedly a mid-range option, the app feels exceptionally premium and offers plenty of customisation options to ensure a tailor-made clean for your home. Otherwise, you can choose between three modes: vacuum only, vacuum and mop or the genuinely useful vacuum then mop mode.

Overall we were impressed more with the S20’s hard floor cleaning over its ability to tackle carpets. Not only could it easily collect dirt from the floor, but the roller mop delivered impressive results without smearing water around. In fact, we found the steady clean water flow and automatic pad washing made it one of the best mid-range mopping systems we’ve tested.

Carpet cleaning was trickier, as although at its maximum setting it collected debris effectively, anything less wasn’t as impressive. There’s also AI obstacle detection, which although works fine enough, isn’t as sharp as more expensive models.

Even so, for keeping on top of your floors, the SwitchBot Floor Cleaning Robot S20 is enough for more households.

  • Great price

  • Powerful vacuuming

  • Roller only uses clean water

  • No very flexible when it comes to carpets

As much as we’d all appreciate having a multitasking robot vacuum cleaner to completely take over the chore of having to manually clean our floors, the price tag for such a device can oftentimes exceed £/$1000 which is just too far out of the available budgets of most people. Thankfully, Eufy Omni E25 is an exception to that rule as it provides many of the great high-end options you want, but for much less at only £849.

The Omni E25 is able to vacuum and mop your floors, and although it is a 2-in-1 device, it offers an overall experience that does not feel compromised in either area. Starting with the vacuum, with a suction power of 20,000Pa, there isn’t that much that this robot can’t pick up. Even on the most difficult tests that we put the E25 through, it was able to get through them in next to no time when the maximum power setting was activated.

It’s a similar experience when it comes to mopping your floors. Thanks to a constant cycle of fresh water being added to the mop, the roller is cleaned as it goes, which helps a great deal in minimising the build up of bacteria and any foul smells that might follow. Again, in our testing facility the mop made short work of dried-in stains for both mud and red wine.

As is becoming increasingly with high-end robot vacuums, the Omni E25 packs AI obstacle detection, which can recognise plenty of regular household objects. This is a huge help if you haven’t had a chance to tidy up beyond starting the vacuuming process, as the vacuum can intelligently move around anything obvious that could get in its way.

If you’re thinking that battery life might be the one area where the Omni E25 would fall behind in order to keep its low price point, then you’re wrong. On a full charge, the robot can run for up to 125-minutes which is more than enough to cover most homes. We still can’t believe that the Eufy Omni E25 is so affordable, but the fact that it exists at all makes it a great choice for anyone looking to upgrade their smart home for less.

  • Excellent app

  • Brilliant value

  • Powerful vacuuming

  • Can’t lift floor mop

  • Very basic mopping

With most robot vacuum cleaners shipping with a self-emptying dock and fancy mopping system, the average price has gone up. It’s refreshing to see the Roborock Q5 Pro, which is more basic but much cheaper.

This robot comes with a standard charging dock, which doesn’t take up much room and could even sit under some lower bits of furniture. Despite the budget price, this robot has some clever features: LiDAR navigation and contra-rotating brush bars that don’t get tangled with hair.

As with other Roborock vacuums, this one is controlled using the Roborock app. That gives full control over how and where to clean, and it’s one of the best in the business.

Vacuuming performance is very good: tough mess on carpet was mostly collected and hard floors were dealt with with ease. Mopping is not very good, with a basic mopping system refusing to remove any tricky stains. We wouldn’t bother with the mopping bracket.

If you want a cheap, vacuum-focused robot, then you’ll struggle to do better than this.

  • Tiny robot and dock combo

  • Double suction power

  • Matter-ready (with Hub)

  • Great hardwood vacuuming

  • Mopping is pretty average

  • No AI obstacle detection

  • Clumsy navigation

Small but mighty, the SwitchBot K11+ Robot Cleaner is one of the best cheap robot vacuums that’s perfect for smaller homes and tighter spaces. In fact, the robot itself measures just 25cm across and stands at 9.2cm tall, while the base station is only 24cm tall itself. Despite being so small, the dock can still house a four-litre antibacterial dust bag, which can last up to 90 days before needing to be swapped out.

Setting up the K11+ is simple, as you just need to connect it to the SwitchBot app and allow it to map out your home. From here, you can create rooms, set up no-go zones and set up virtual walls too. Plus, the robot can store up to five maps which is perfect for multi-floor cleaning.

One issue we’ve found is that the K11+ doesn’t have AI obstacle detection or avoidance, which means pesky items like shoes, cables and toys can get tangled or stuck during a clean. A quick tidy up beforehand can prevent this, but it does mean you don’t quite have the freedom of just letting the robot get on with the clean.

When it comes to performance, while the K11+ can’t match the likes of more expensive robot vacuums like the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete or even the SwitchBot Floor Cleaning Robot S20, at its price it still does an admirable job.

Hard floor performance is where the K11+ really shines as, thanks to its small stature, it can cope well with edge cleaning too. Mopping is light, as there’s no water tank nor carpet detection or scrubbing, making it fine for refreshing but not for anything stronger.

For smaller homes and budgets, the SwitchBot K11+ Robot Cleaner is an easy recommendation. However, if you need more mopping abilities then you will need to invest in a more dedicated mopping model.

FAQs

Does size matter?

Robot vacuum cleaners tend to be short and wide, or tall and thin. The former is good for getting under furniture; the latter is ideal for getting through narrow gaps. Ultimately, design is a choice that revolves around compromise and there will be areas a cleaner can’t reach, so choose the shape that best suits the type of space and furniture you have.

What kind of battery life do I need?

Battery life is important to a degree: the longer the battery life, the more of your home a robot can clean. Typically, robots will last around 45 minutes, which is good enough for a floor of an average-sized house. However, the best cleaners will make their way back to their charging station, top-up and then carry on.

What bin size do I need?

Robot vacuum cleaners have far smaller bins than traditional cleaners – typically, 0.3 to 0.7 litres. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but if you’re using a robot regularly, there’s less dust to pick up. Ultimately, you’ll most likely have to empty a vacuum cleaner after each clean.

Are smart features important?

Unless you’re going ultra-budget, a robot vacuum cleaner with an app is a must. Smartphone apps make scheduling and control far easier, and you can start a clean without having to be right by your robot. Look for Alexa or Google Assistant support if you’d like to start a clean without having to stand up first.
