We’re living in troubling times, friends, and smart money invests in security. Right now, it’s cheap and easy to add a smart camera that features motion sensing, night vision, object and human detection, and other essential features. Those cameras come in stand-alone models, doorbells and more, and integrate with smart locks, motion sensors and more to stream alerts to your phone or smart device. Here are the best home security deals we have for March.
Many security systems have optional paid subscription plans that allow you to store and access the videos your cameras record from anywhere. Others require a hub unit to control the cameras and contain local storage. Both types typically allow you to access your video feeds in real time via your phone, computer or other smart display. We also recommend cameras that allow for two-way audio interaction with whoever’s on the other side of the lens, and having a spotlight function is a nice option as well. The main choice you’ll need to make with your smart doorbell is whether or not you need a wired or wireless option; from there, camera specs and additional features will vary.
Security Camera Deals
Here’s a satisfying 50% discount on a very capable smart camera. We reviewed the GE Cync camera when it was released, and proclaimed it to be a competent contender that delivered 1080p video in both daytime and nighttime, along with some nice motion and sound detection features. You have the option of storing video in a SD card slot or on the cloud with an additional subscription. Setup is a breeze and it plays nice with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, but unfortunately doesn’t work with IFTTT integrations.
While the TP-Link Tapo C100 doesn’t have as many of the high-end features as more expensive options, but it does everything you’ll need it to. Motion detection can send push notifications instantly to your phone, two-way audio and a built-in siren lets you communicate or scare away prowling animals, and it’s compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
For a few more bucks, Eufy gives you more features and flexibility for your home security setup. They’re rechargeable, for one, and between the full field of view, infrared night vision, and 1080p resolution, the footage you get is pretty detailed. They also deliver smart notifications like motion alerts that can tell the difference between the neighborhood cat and a delivery driver arriving at your doorstep (and with two-way audio, you can interact with them as well). This package also includes a home hub for months of video storage with no monthly fee.

Video Doorbell Deals
Here’s an 25% discount for the Eufy battery video doorbell, a very competent front-porch monitor that we gave a solid review to. It’s simple to set up and connect to your home Wi-Fi network, and once it’s up and running you can stream video and get motion alerts to your phone or other smart device, use two-way audio to communicate with visitors, and more. An optional microSD card can plug right in to the chime unit to store captured video. The built-in battery lasts 120 days between charges, and it integrates seamlessly with Alexa devices and Eufy smart locks.
Google’s Nest video doorbell is a no-frills entry into the home security space, with exceptional object recognition and crisp, clear video both day and night. In our review, we said that it “couldn’t be easier to install,” taking just a few minutes with simple hand tools and the free Nest app. The two-way speaker and microphone work effectively, and you can store video for up to three hours without a subscription. Our only criticism of the unit was the sticker price, so Amazon delivering a 167% discount handles that.
Finally, here’s a budget model from TP-Link that delivers surprisingly great 2K video in a compact and unobtrusive package. We reviewed the Tapo smart video doorbell and said that it was versatile, wire-free and works with tons of other smart devices, giving it an Editors’ Choice award. With support for both Alexa and Google smart networks as well as IFTTT applets, you can integrate it easily into your home smart network. You can store footage either on a MicroSD card or in the cloud with a Tapo Care subscription.

Eufy makes reliable and high-tech smart security options, and we liked their C220 smart lock quite a bit. In our review, we said it “offers stylish looks, easy installation, and an embedded fingerprint reader,” and praised the addition of a Wi-Fi unit for easier connectivity. It takes 8 AA batteries, which last an estimated eight months before needing to be replaced, and the AI-powered fingerprint detection gets more accurate over time. Is Smart Home Security Worth It?
We rigorously test and review home security systems as they’re released, but all the benchmarking in the world can’t tell you what it means for your peace of mind. While crime, in general, is on the decline, there are still people with bad intentions out there. Not only do smart home security systems let you monitor your doors and windows, but they’re also great for keeping an eye on pets and kids, registering deliveries when they’re dropped off, and more. And with prices dropping, the cost is lower than ever to set up a system.
What Is the Best Home Camera System Without a Monthly Fee?
Nearly all smart security camera manufacturers offer a subscription plan along with their hardware. These plans typically enable cloud-based services like video storage and real-time alerts. But if you’re saving money, they’re not always required. Some systems give you more value than others, and on the whole, we recommend Eufy products for no-subscription use. Models like the Eufy E220 indoor camera let you use a microSD card to store up to 128GB of video locally. They also link up with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for easy integration and alerts to your smart devices.
Does Ring Have a Monthly Fee?
Yes, Ring security cameras do offer a subscription service. It’s called Ring Home (formerly Ring Protect) and comes in three tiers. Basic coverage costs $4.99 per month, Home Standard is $9.99 for Home Standard, and it’s $19.99 for Home Premium. The Basic plan covers a single camera, with up to 180 days of video event history stored in the cloud, along with person and package alerts and video preview alerts. Home Standard extends that to unlimited cameras, as well as adding doorbell calls and extended live view. Home Premium turns it into a full-featured security solution with 24/7 recording, SOS emergency response, and more.
