Chinese game developer Game Science has risen to 12th place on Steam’s top publisher rankings, surpassing renowned companies such as CD Projekt Red, FromSoftware, and Larian Studios, according to the Steam statistics platform Gamalytic. The rankings are based on game revenue on the Steam platform, with data showing that Game Science’s revenue has exceeded $1 billion. The top 12 publishers on Steam are: Valve, Krafton, EA, Ubisoft, Xbox, Bethesda, Sega, Activision, Bandai Namco, Rockstar, 2K, and Game Science. Last week, China’s Zhejiang province tax department released an announcement stating that the development cost of Black Myth: Wukong was around RMB 300 million ($42.4 million), and that the authority had provided Game Science with an R&D (research & development) expense deduction of RMB 28 million ($3.96 million).
