Chinese developer Game Science’s title Black Myth: Wukong received four nominations for The Game Awards (TGA) 2024 on Tuesday, including Game of the Year, Best Action Game, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction. This marks an unprecedented achievement for a Chinese game on the global stage. The nominees for Game of the Year also include Astro Bot (Team Asobi/SIE), Balatro (LocalThunk/Playstack), Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (FromSoftware/Bandai Namco), Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Square Enix), and Metaphor: ReFantazio (Studio Zero/Atlus/Sega). The Game Awards (TGA), which began in 2014, have become the most influential accolade in the global gaming industry, often called the Oscars of gaming. The Game of the Year award from TGA, regarded as one of the highest honors in gaming communities, will be presented live at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 12, 2024.
