NHL commentators were amazed at a fighting scene during Wednesday night’s St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers game.

The brawl occurred less than 10 minutes into the game, and the Oilers eventually won 4-3.

Eight minutes into the game, Oilers star Corey Perry attempted to take control of a loose puck and made his way into the goalie crease.

Perry then made contact with goaltender Jordan Binnington, which led to him receiving an initial penalty for interference.

But Binnington, who went down after the contact, got back up and took issue with the move, punching Perry in the back of the head.

The 2019 Stanley Cup champion Binnington punched Perry once again with his left hand glove, and that’s when the chaos really erupted.

Most of the players on the ice defended their respective teammate as the officials tried to break up the fighting.

Play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels was on the call for the Oilers’ game on Sportsnet, and he was astonished at the start of the sequence.

“This is ready to explode early,” Michaels said.

The refs couldn’t separate Perry and Binnington before the goalie punched the Oilers forward, who fell to the ice.

More little tussles occurred before Perry and Blues’ Jack Neighbours dropped the gloves.

Perry landed a right hook, but both players were gassed as the fight didn’t even last over 20 seconds.

Binnington received four minutes in penalties on two separate roughing minors, and Neighbors picked up five for fighting.

Perry got the worst punishment as he got seven minutes in the penalty box for fighting and a goalie interference infraction.

The Western Conference contest was an important one as the NHL’s regular season is approaching its end.

Both teams entered the game with 93 points, but the Blues played two more games than the Oilers.

Neither team had clinched a playoff spot, and neither was mathematically eliminated for playoff contention.

Edmonton beat St. Louis 4-3, as Connor Brown delivered the game-winning game with under 20 seconds left in regulation.

It was superstar Connor McDavid’s first game back after missing the previous eight contests due to injury.

The three-time Hart Trophy winner picked up three assists in his return.

The Blues and Oilers will continue to look to clinch a playoff berth.
