The Black Phone 2 stars Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw, and takes place four years after the original film. Even in death, The Grabber continues to grab, it seems. If you missed the sequel in theaters, don’t fret; The Black Phone 2 is coming to streaming.

Taking a thematic page from A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Blumhouse sequel brings the big bad villain back from the dead to continue terrorizing Finn — the boy he kidnapped in the first movie — and his sister. This time, though, the masked man haunts the kids in their dreams. Freddy Krueger, much?

Demián Bichir, Jeremy Davies, Miguel Mora, Arianna Rivas, Anna Lore, Graham Abbey and James Ransone also star in The Black Phone 2. Scott Derrikson returned to direct the sequel, which he wrote with C. Robert Cargill. Joe Hill wrote the short story The Black Phone, which inspired both movies.

Read on to find out more about the release info of The Black Phone 2 and how using a VPN may be helpful.

The Black Phone 2 streaming release date

The Black Phone 2 will premiere on Friday, Jan. 16, exclusively on Peacock.

If you want to stream the hit horror sequel, you’ll need a subscription to Peacock. The ad-based plan is $8 a month and its ad-free subscription tiers are $11 (for Premium) and $17 (for Premium Plus). If you’re interested in bundling your services and you’re a Comcast customer, the service comes bundled with Netflix and Apple TV, and may be a good choice for you.

How to watch The Black Phone 2 with a VPN

If you’re traveling abroad and want to keep up with your favorite shows while away from home, a VPN can help enhance your privacy and security when streaming. It encrypts your traffic and prevents your internet service provider from throttling your speeds and can also be helpful when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks while traveling, adding an extra layer of protection for your devices and logins.

VPNs are legal in many countries, including the US and Canada, and can be used for legitimate purposes such as improving online privacy and security. However, some streaming services may have policies restricting VPN use to access region-specific content. If you’re considering a VPN for streaming, check the platform’s terms of service to ensure compliance.

ExpressVPN is our current best VPN pick for people who want a reliable and safe VPN; the service is compatible with a variety of devices. It’s typically $13 a month but if you sign up for an annual subscription for $100, you’ll get four months free and save 70%.

Note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

If you choose to use a VPN, follow the provider’s installation instructions, ensuring you’re connected securely and in compliance with applicable laws and service agreements. Some streaming platforms may block access when a VPN is detected, so verifying if your streaming subscription allows VPN use is crucial.
