Boox is expanding its Go Series with two new E Ink devices that are the first from the company to bring stylus support and note-taking capabilities to its smaller seven-inch e-reader models. It’s functionality that Kobo already offers on its seven-inch Libra Colour, but the new Boox Go 7 and Go Color 7 Gen II both run Android 13 instead of a proprietary OS giving you access to both Amazon and Kobo’s book stores while also letting you install and use your preferred note-taking app from the Google Play store.

Featuring a black-and-white E Ink Carta 1300 screen with a resolution of 300ppi and adjustable screen lighting, the Boox Go 7 uses an asymmetrical design with an extended grip on one side and a pair of page turn buttons. It comes with 64GB of storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, so there’s lots of room to store ebooks and audiobooks that can be enjoyed through the Go 7’s built-in speaker or wireless headphones over Bluetooth.

The Go 7 is water-resistant and can survive splashes, spills, or light rain, but it’s not waterproof so a complete dunking will turn it into e-waste.

The specs for the Go Color 7 Gen II are nearly identical, but it instead features an E Ink Kaleido 3 screen similar to the Kindle Colorsoft’s that’s capable of displaying up to 4,096 colors at 150ppi, or black-and-white text and imagery at 300ppi.

Both e-readers support Boox’s pressure-sensitive InkSense stylus for taking notes or annotating text in documents (if your reading app supports that feature) but it’s an optional accessory that will add $45.99 to the price of either e-reader.
