THE air fryer is still at the top of Brits’ Christmas lists this year – beating smart home security systems and VR headsets.

A poll of 2,000 adults who celebrate this holiday found Ninja air fryers took the number one spot, with 11 per cent hoping to see a mini oven-shaped parcel under their tree on the big day.

This is despite 59 per cent of those polled already owning this hot commodity, with 68 per cent claiming they now couldn’t imagine their lives without it.

The list also highlighted other trending items, including sought-after treasures such as a Samsung Soundbar, Dyson Airwrap, and Amazon Fire TV Stick HD.

Others are hoping for innovative kitchen tools such as ice cream makers, dessert makers, and bread makers.

The research also revealed an interest in smart technology, ranging from appliances and lighting to home security.

A spokesperson for Utilita, which has a Power Price List showing the cost to run household items, said: “The George Foreman grill and waffle maker swiftly gave way to the smoothie maker. Now it’s all about air fryers.

“People can see the pounds and pence savings with these little worktop wonders, compared to the much bigger oven which costs almost four times more to run, on average.”

The study also explored how these trends differ between generations, with the highest number of Gen Zs hoping for an Apple AirTag under the tree (13 per cent).

While 11 per cent have asked for some kind of air purifier or clothes steamer.

Millennials are more interested than any other group in a Panasonic bread maker (eight per cent) and Meta Quest 3 (eight per cent).

They are also leading the charge in wanting to stock up on smart technology, particularly smart watches (21 per cent), appliances (17 per cent), and lighting (14 per cent).

Younger generations were also found to be more influenced by trends than others, with this affecting the buying habits of 53 per cent of Millennials and 57 per cent of Gen Zs, compared to just 31 per cent of the general population.

More of this group also tend to consider energy efficiency when deciding which technology to purchase (25 per cent) versus Boomers and Gen X (17 per cent), according to the OnePoll.com data.
