BRITS have been blocked from using “dodgy” Fire Sticks with thousands unable to stream free TV shows.

Amazon’s crackdown has finally hit the UK after the company blocked the dodgy tech in other markets last year.

Users are now reporting that illegal streaming apps installed on their Fire TV Sticks are being blocked from launching.

Instead, some users are greeted with a message stating the app “has been disabled because it has been identified as using or providing access to unlicensed content”, according to Cord Busters.

In another update, Amazon is also addressing user concerns about the blocking.

This includes whether customers can obtain a refund if they bought the Fire TV stick specifically for these apps.

TV Fire Sticks allow users to watch videos, listen to music and download apps directly on to their television.

However, some people download a third-party software which allows them to access streaming platforms without paying a subscription fee.

Sky has also issued a warning to viewers to stop using Fire Sticks to access its content without paying.

The company has been working alongside law enforcement agencies to crackdown on illegal streaming.

Individuals caught supplying and watching illegal streaming could face penalties of up to £50,000.

Those discovered selling “dodgy” Fire Sticks could face more severe punishment.
