Every week, Netflix unleashes a bunch of new content for viewers to stream. Watching all of it would take you more time than you have, so I start my Friday by selecting three top choices for the weekend and week to come. Unsurprisingly, many of their offerings this week lean into October’s chilling tradition, with a documentary getting deep into the family of a serial killer, a brutal Polish crime drama, and more.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

My Father, the BTK Killer (Oct. 10)

Netflix keeps mining the serial killer content in October with this new documentary that asks the chilling question, “What if your Dad was a notorious serial murderer?” Director Skye Borgman is the streamer’s go-to name for these creepshows, and in My Father, the BTK Killer, she sits down with the daughter of Dennis Rader, the notorious murderer who snuffed out at least 10 people while being a Scout leader and family man.

  • Director: Skye Borgman

  • Genre: Documentary

  • Rating: TV-MA

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch (Oct. 14)

Tom Clancy’s top operative, Sam Fisher, leaves the world of video games for a Netflix animated series in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. When he’s pulled from retirement to mentor a new agent, Sam quickly becomes embroiled in yet another global conspiracy that requires him to cross the globe, infiltrate bases, take out foes, and generally get up to no good.

Inside Furioza (Oct. 9)

The sequel to 2021’s Furioza brings us back into the dark and unsettling Polish underworld, as a young scumbag gets stuck under the thumb of the police and has to infiltrate a notorious prison as an informant. Inside Furioza looks to deliver more of the same unflinching perspective on violence and its consequences, with jaw-dropping action scenes.

  • Directors: Cyprian T. Olencki

  • Stars: Mateusz Damięcki, Szymon Bobrowski, Łukasz Simlat

  • Genre: Action

  • Rating: R
