BYD will roll out its Atto 2 electric compact crossover in France with a starting price of €28,990 ($30,358), making it cheaper than rival offerings such as Kia’s Niro EV and the Peugeot e-2008, according to a representative of BYD’s regional sales network. The news comes months after the Chinese electric vehicle giant showcased its vehicle lineup at the Paris car show last October with the regional launch of its Sea Lion 07 sport utility vehicle. In late 2023, the company began selling three EV models in France: the Atto 3 crossover, the Han sedan, and the Tang SUV. BYD aims to open 100 sales locations in the eurozone’s second-largest economy. [TechNode reporting, Reuters]
