Cambridge Audio has added to its half-width design MX series with the launch of the compact MXW70 power amplifier.
According to Cambridge, the MXW70 is designed for a high-fidelity performance without taking up much space. At 215mm wide, it’d be ideal for anyone who doesn’t have the room for full-width hi-fi separates.
Compact form with plenty of muscle
The amp features 70W of power at 8 ohms per channel. The company claims this specification allows the MXW70 to drive “even demanding speakers” without the bulk of trad power amplifiers.
Users can turn the amp from stereo mode to mono via a switch, which unlocks 250W of bridgeable power. That sounds like a lot.
Digging into its insides, the MXN10 is driven by Hpex NCORE Class D amplifier technology to deliver its power efficiently without “compromising the rich, musical sound” that’s become Cambridge Audio’s trademark.

Connectivity includes high-quality speaker outputs (natch) and stereo RCA inputs with a Balanced XLR input for noise-free performance.
And while the MXW70 doesn’t support Cambridge Audio’s StreamMagic platform, it can be partnered with the highly regarded MXN10 music streamer which does, ensuring a gateway between all the streaming apps on mobile device of choice to the sound coming out of your stereo speakers.
All that’s left is to reveal the price and when the MXW70 goes on sale.
In terms of the latter, we know the Cambridge Audio MXW70 is due to hit approved retailers in summer 2025. The price it’ll retail for is £499 / $599 / €599.
