Apple debuted some great new CarPlay features in iOS 26, but the company has more coming for your vehicle soon. Here are the 13 new vehicle brands that Apple says will soon support car keys in the Apple Wallet app.

Apple Wallet’s car key feature is expanding

In Apple’s quest to replace the physical wallet with its Wallet app, the company launched ‘car keys’ in 2020.

The feature is basically exactly what it sounds like: car keys grant access to your vehicle using your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Implementations of car keys vary by manufacturer, with multiple features available case by case. My colleague Chance explains:

  • Passive entry: Approach your car with your device, it unlocks, start your car when inside, and walk away from your car with your device, it locks.
  • Proximity: Lock, unlock, and start the car by holding your device close to the door handle or key reader.
  • Remotely: You can use your device to remote lock and unlock your car, and use other features.

You can find a full list of currently supported car key vehicles here.

That list will be growing soon, though. Apple announced earlier this year that 13 new vehicle brands are about to gain car key support.

Since then, there have been increased signs recently of Apple’s back-end systems preparing for multiple imminent vehicle launches.

Car keys coming for 13 new vehicle brands

Here’s the full list of forthcoming Car Key additions:

  • Acura
  • Cadillac
  • Chery
  • Chevrolet
  • GMC
  • Hongqi
  • Lucid
  • Porsche
  • Rivian
  • Smart
  • Tata
  • Voyah
  • WEY

Apple didn’t provide a specific timeline for these brands adopting car key support.

Just this week however, Rivian confirmed that its rollout is happening this month. Based on what we’ve seen with recent reports from Apple’s back-end system, I would expect to see several other launches around the same time.

After these 13 additions roll out car key support, there will be a total of 33 vehicle brands supported by Apple Wallet.

Do you use car key in Apple Wallet? How has that worked for you? Let us know in the comments.
