IT’S January, which means that most of the biggest gaming platforms are holding beginning of the year sales.
However, it’s not all good news for gamers, as the latest sales highlighted a number of popular games being delisted.
People first noticed that the Cartoon Network games had been delisted due to the PlayStation sale, but they have also disappeared from other platforms.
The affected Cartoon Network games are tied into some of the channel’s most popular TV shows such as Adventure Time, Samurai Jack, and Steven Universe.
Last year, developers of Adult Swim-published games were told that they would be delisted from all platforms.
The publisher initially said that it would not return the rights of the games to their developers, but has since backtracted on that decision.
However, as the recently delisted games are linked to Cartoon Network shows, it is unlikely that they will be making a comeback.
Here is the list of games that have been delisted from online storefronts:
- Adventure Time: Finn & Jake’s Epic Quest
- Adventure Time: Magic Man’s Head Games
- OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes
- Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time
- Steven Universe: Save the Light
- Steven Universe: Unleash the Light
Some users have pointed out that they are still able to purchase and redeem a key for one of these games from third-party storefronts.
If you already own the games, or purchase game keys in this manner then they should function as normal for the foreseeable future.
While Cartoon Network hasn’t issued an official statement regarding the delistment of games, it appears that it is sunsetting its gaming services.
Games Gone
Unfortunately, it’s becoming more and more common that publishers are delisting some of their older games.
Many of these games were online only, meaning that for most people these games are gone for good.
As we move further into the digital age, gamers are increasingly choosing to purchase games online rather than physically.
This means that more and more games will become unavailable to play going forward.
