The CEO of a Utah-based software company tragically died this weekend after falling 200 feet while climbing in Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah, officials said.

Around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday, Justin Bingham, 40, was canyoneering near the Heaps Canyon exit, where he fell about 50 to 60 meters, the National Parks Service (NPS) confirmed in a statement.

The NPS said he was with three other climbers and all were following their permitted route.

After receiving the report of the fall, the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and provided emergency medical care.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh.
