The CEO of a Utah-based software company tragically died this weekend after falling 200 feet while climbing in Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah, officials said.
Around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday, Justin Bingham, 40, was canyoneering near the Heaps Canyon exit, where he fell about 50 to 60 meters, the National Parks Service (NPS) confirmed in a statement.
The NPS said he was with three other climbers and all were following their permitted route.
After receiving the report of the fall, the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and provided emergency medical care.

Bingham was taken by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to a helispot where he received additional assistance, but it was too late. He was pronounced dead before he could be taken to hospital by air ambulance.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh.

Bingham was the CEO of Opiniion, a software company in the town of Lindon, just outside Provo, that focuses on property management solutions.
The company confirmed his death to Fox News Digital, saying the tragic accident happened while he was enjoying one of his greatest passions: exploring nature.

“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of real connections, both with our clients and within our team. His dedication to building meaningful relationships had a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s adventurous spirit and dedication to Living a full life will be deeply missed,” the company said.
“If you spent any time with him, he was the eternal optimist. ‘Everything always works out.’ He told me so many times… But he was right, and most of the time he was,” said Opiniion President and COO Devin Shurtleff.

Zion National Park and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating Bingham’s exact cause of death.
