Foldables have been taking over the scene, and it looks like Apple might finally jump into this segment and launch a foldable iPhone soon. According to early leaks, the foldable could feature a completely new display technology we haven’t seen from Apple before. This could lead to a complete shift away from the familiar Apple notch and pill-shaped design.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a book-style fold with two separate screens. It’s rumoured to have a crease-free 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen. To enhance the display’s look, Apple is said to ditch its signature notch and Dynamic Island for a punch-hole cutout. Adding to this, the internal display could look even more impressive, as it might use an under-display camera. This would offer a seamless full-screen experience and could make Apple’s first-ever foldable device more exciting than any other foldable on the market.

Another key detail is the return of Touch ID, but this time around, it could be a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button which is similar to the setup on the iPad Air. This likely reflects the complex internal engineering of foldables, which leaves limited room for the Face ID components.

The foldable iPhone’s development is reportedly gaining pace and Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple plans to finalise the hardware by June. This means the launch is imminent and we could get this device till the end of 2026.

On the pricing side, the first-generation foldable iPhone is expected to cost between $2,000 and $2,300. While this is ultra-premium pricing, Apple’s loyal fanbase could easily drive strong demand and become early adopters of the first ever foldable iPhone.

In related rumours, Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone is expected to feature groundbreaking upgrades including a bezel-free design, no display cutouts, and a 100% silicon battery which might be the biggest leap in iPhone technology we have seen in years.
