Sony has officially announced the name and fresh details of its upcoming first-party fight stick – the FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick. First introduced last month under the codename Project Defiant, this new controller is aimed at serious fighting game players who want better precision and customization. While it won’t launch until 2026, fans will get a chance to try it out during the Evo Championship Series in Las Vegas from August 1 to 3.

Built with Competitive Play in Mind

The FlexStrike is designed to offer ultra-low latency, both wirelessly and through a wired connection, whether you’re playing on a PS5 or a PC. That means your in-game actions respond instantly.

Custom Controls and Handy Design

Sony has also focused on making the controller more flexible for different play styles. The fight stick includes a high-quality digital stick and interchangeable restrictor gates – square, circular, or octagonal – that you can swap out without tools. There’s even a small storage compartment in the controller to keep the gates when not in use.

The FlexStrike also comes with a sling carry case, making it easy to take to tournaments or gaming events.

Works Alongside DualSense and Other Gear

You won’t need to disconnect your DualSense controller either. Sony says both can stay connected at once, which is handy for navigating menus between matches.

With the PS Link USB adapter, players will be able to pair the FlexStrike with Sony’s Pulse Elite headset or Pulse Explore earbuds at the same time. This will ensure cystral-clear, low-latency sound and voice chat for serious multiplayer sessions.

Release Date and What to Expect Next

Sony is yet to share the pricing details for the FlexStrike. The company is expected to share more information closer to launch.

For now, the FlexStrike will be available for early demos at Evo 2025 where users can experience the first hands-on look at the device ahead of its official release in 2026.
