The team has been busy restructuring ahead of a run at reaching the NFL’s championship game again.
And they have finally agreed to terms with defensive end Omenihu, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
The deal is worth up to $7 million for the 2025 season.
Omenihu signed as a free agent before the 2023 season on a two-year deal.
He missed the first six games of the 2023 campaign after being suspended.
The 27-year-old violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
He was arrested in January that year on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic assault in San Jose, California.
Omenihu then tore his ACL in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens.
That meant he missed the Super Bowl LVII victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
But he got his hands on the sport’s biggest prize the following year.
Omenihu played in six regular-season games in 2024 after coming back from the ACL tear.
He then played in all three playoff games, including the Super Bowl LVIII win against the San Francisco 49ers.
The 27-year-old was a key part of Kansas City’s defense in 2024.
The Chiefs’ season ended with a devastating 40-22 defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
Defensive star Chris Jones restructured his contract.

And that has helped to create space for players such as Omenihu.
Omenihu was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He spent three seasons with the Houston Texans, his hometown team.
And the defensive end moved to the San Francisco 49ers for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
He has 19.5 sacks in his six years in the NFL.
