China Unicom has opened pre-registration for its eSIM service, attracting strong public interest with more than 39,000 users signing up so far. Users can register through a dedicated page accessible from the homepage of the China Unicom app. The campaign, launched under the theme “Unicom eSIM, More Freedom of Choice,” coincides with a promotion dubbed the “eSIM Trial Season,” offering subsidies to early adopters. Buyers of the country’s first eSIM-enabled AI Pad can receive discounts of up to 600 yuan ($83) and a free 300GB nationwide data package valid for one year. The move comes as eSIM adoption accelerates in China. Apple’s upcoming iPhone Air will support only eSIM for the domestic market, while China Mobile and China Telecom are also advancing their own eSIM services.[TechNode reporting]
