TCL Technology, a Shenzhen-listed Chinese display and electronics group, said its subsidiary TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) will invest about US$4.1 billion (29.5 billion yuan) in the world’s first 8.6-generation printed OLED production line, to be built in Guangzhou with local government partners. The facility will have a monthly capacity of 22,500 glass substrates (2290×2620mm) and target tablets, laptops, and monitors, with construction scheduled to start in November 2025 and a 24-month build cycle.

TCL noted it already operates a G5.5 printed OLED line and holds over 9,700 OLED patents, including 1,200 related to printed OLED. The company said the new project will support China’s push in next-generation display technology as AMOLED demand rises, with global shipments forecast to surpass 1.3 billion units by 2030.[regulatory filing, in Chinese]
