Chrysler recalls a maximum of 91,787 Jeep Grand Cherokee-in-Hybrid SUVs about a software error that can lead to loss of driving power, according to a recall issued by the US Department of Transport.
The recall applies to certain 2022-2026 models of the SUVs, said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The error can lead to “a vehicle without prior warning” crashed by an unexpected loss of propulsion, according to the recall report.
From August 18, the company said that it is not aware of accidents or injuries with regard to this issue, according to the report.

According to the recall report, “a reset of a battery control module that is wrongly interpreted by the hybrid control processor can cause a loss of propulsion. An unexpected loss of propulsion can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.”

The software error is within the hybrid control processor, caused by an overload of a microprocessor in the battery’s operating module, according to the recall report.

A remedy for this defect is currently developing and affected vehicle owners, according to the recall a notification, a notification will be sent by October 23.
Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, did not immediately respond to ABC News request for comments.
