GOODMAN — After learning of the problems city employees were encountering with gWorks software, the Goodman City Council on Dec. 3 approved the purchase of Central Square and SUBS software to help city employees perform their duties. The purchase of a new commercial lawn mower for the public works department was also approved.
gWorks software is designed to help municipal governments, counties and special districts facilitate their accounting tasks such as water billing and payroll.
According to City Clerk Madisun Branstetter, renewing the contract with gWorks would cost the city up to $30,000 per year.
The decision not to renew the contract came after the company updated its software, something city officials say caused complications that halted their operations.
This delayed residents sending their water bills and completing payroll for city employees.
