Last week, the computer running the software that manages my digitized music collection somehow forgot how to access the hard drive where that music is stored. When I clicked on a song I got a message that the file was missing.
This caused a lot of concern. I have over 20,000 albums in digital form. (For my fellow nerds, I would like to note that almost all of them are in a lossless format, which depending on your religious beliefs, may be as high quality as possible.) I realized I could get them back, but had to restore the library one song at a time would be a long and arduous process. Although I remembered that there was a way to reconnect the library on the hard drive to the software on the computer, I couldn’t remember that way and couldn’t find any decipherable instructions on how to do that online.
