Dell has brought the CES 2025 a revolution in its laptop ranges. Not only has it expanded them with new models, but it has also taken advantage of the event to rename and reorganize them all. Thus, after many years, established lines such as XPS, Inspiron, Precision or Latitude disappear from its catalogue;
in force since the last decade of the last century, to make way for new families of equipment with simpler names: Dell, Dell Pro y Dell Pro Max.
The laptops that are part of each of them have a specific purpose. Thus, the equipment in the Dell family, the most basic, will be focused on users who need more basic equipment to perform daily tasks. The Pro range will be more focused on business, while the Pro Max will be for users who perform tasks and work with applications that require equipment with higher power hardware.
Furthermore, within each of these ranges there will be three subcategories. Thus, they will have base models, models that will add the Plus name to the name of the equipment, more focused on performance, and others that will add Premium to their name and that have been designed for users who need the latest in mobility and design. The first batch Dell laptops with the new name will begin to be available during the first half of 2025.
Dell, for everyday and family use
The Dell range computers, which will have lines Dell, Dell Plus y Dell Pemiumcan be considered as the successors to the Inspiron, Inspiron Plus and XPS entry-level devicesrespectively. Among the first to appear are four Plus Copilot+ with Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips. The Dell 14 Plus has a 14-inch display, while the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 (14-inch) and Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 (16-inch) have hinges that allow them to fold on themselves up to 360 degrees.
According to the company, all four have a new ultra-thin design, and a battery life that can improve up to almost 40% that of some of its Inspiron laptops with Core ultra Series 1 CPUs. All four will be available starting in mid-2019. next month of February. Dell will later expand this line with computers with AMD and Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors.
Pro family, for tasks focused on professional productivity
Laptops Pro are the successors to the Latitude range. They have a thin and light, yet resistant chassis. They also incorporate modular USB-C ports that can be changed if they are damaged. They also have three types of models: Pro, Pro Plus and Pro Premium.
The highest level models in the family, Dell Pro 13 Premium and Dell Pro 14 Premium, are also the thinnest and lightest, in addition to standing out for their low noise level thanks to a new thermal design characterized by a double fan. Both have Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, and their battery life reaches 21.5 hours. The 14-inch model has an OLED screen, and both incorporate an 8 Megapixel webcam with HDR. They are now available.
The initial Pro range includes three models: Pro 13, 14 and 16, with conventional and convertible formats. They offer different combinations of USB, HDMI and Thunderbolt ports, in addition to 5G and WiFi 7. It has Intel Core Ultra Series 2 or AMD processors. Devices with Intel Pro 14 and 16 chips are now available, except for the Pro Plus 13, which will be launched on February 25. The Dell Plus with an AMD chip will be available within a maximum of six months.
The company has confirmed that there will also be Dell Pro 14 and Dell Pro 16 laptops with low-power displays, which will allow them to have more autonomy. In these cases, computers with Ultra Series 2 processors will arrive between March and April, while versions with AMD will arrive before the second half of 2025.
Pro Max: the highest performance models
The new ones Pro Max laptops, replacements for Precision series workstationsalso have a slim design, although focused on durability, they are intended for professionals who need high-performance equipment for tasks such as AI inference or video rendering.
The first to be launched will be the Dell Pro Max 14 and the Dell Pro Max 16, with Intel Core Ultra Series 2, AMD Ryzen or AMD Threadripper chips. The second model, 16 inches, can be chosen with a QHD+ touch screen and graphics up to Nvidia RTX 2000 series. It will arrive between March and April, with models with an AMD processor available before the end of June.
