Dell Technologies Inc.’s Alienware brand has been flexing its muscles at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas today, unveiling three new gaming laptops alongside a traditional tower personal computer powered by Nvidia Corp.’s most advanced gaming processor.

Though the new Alienware laptops are designed for mobile gaming and feature shiny new OLED panels for the first time, it’s the Alienware Area-51 Gaming Desktop that’s likely to get hardcore gamers most excited. It’s billed as the company’s “statement piece, with an 80L full-tower chassis that’s designed to provide maximum performance and expandability for future upgrades.

The Alienware Area-51 is powered by Advanced Micro Devices Inc.’s latest Ryzen 7 9850X3D central processing unit, which is widely considered to be the best gaming processor currently on the market. As the company’s flagship gaming PC, it’s notable for its large chassis that features a more premium build quality and a redesigned cooling system with greater net airflow, the company said.

That may also explain why it’s the only Alienware PC Dell feels comfortable enough to equip with Nvidia’s hot and power-hungry GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. In addition, it’s blessed with 32 gigabytes of RAM, a 1-terabyte solid-state drive and a massive 1,500-watt 80Plus Platinum power supply that allows plenty of headroom for future upgrades.

As for the new laptops, these include the 18-inch and 16-inch Alienware Area-51 and the 16-inch Alienware 16X Aurora, both equipped with premium, anti-glare OLED panels to alleviate the annoyance of reflections and enhance contrast.

The 16 Area-51 and 18 Area-51 laptops (pictured below) are both ultra-slim models at less than 17 millimeters thick, and they’re designed to pair high performance with mobility. Dell stressed that these aren’t just gaming laptops, though, for they’re also built to handle creative projects such as video editing tasks that also require high performance.

Under the hood, users will find an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU that’s paired with 32 gigabytes of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU. The Intel chip has 24 cores and clocks up a maximum speed of 5.4 gigahertz, which means it should be easily able to handle the most graphics heavy games around.

It’s available in a Liquid Teal color and features a premium glass touchpad, with Dolby Atmos speakers and noise reduction technology built in. Windows 11 Home comes pre-installed, and users will also benefit from a 30-day Microsoft 365 trial, making it ready for work or play right out of the box.

Finally, the Alienware 16X Aurora (below) is a new, entry-level gaming laptop that Dell said will open the door of high-end gaming to a much broader audience. It said it provides a nice balance between performance, portability and price, offering an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 CPU paired with an Nvidia GeForce RX 5070 GPU and a new Cryo-Chamber cooling system.

Dell hasn’t yet disclosed pricing, but gamers shouldn’t have long to wait. The Alienware Area-51 desktop is set to go on sale next month, with the laptops to follow before the end of the first quarter.
