Dell Technologies has updated its PowerStore enterprise storage platformwhich has now been provided with new features in cybersecurity and unified file operations. Also QLC technology (quadruple level cell). All of this will give these SSDs more storage options in the face of exponential data growth, increased cyber threats, and the need to maintain business continuity without reducing efficiency.

The new QLC model of Dell’s PowerStore storage range has 30 TB of capacity, and allows up to two effective PB to be stored in 2U of rack space. In addition, it has doubled the capacity per one rack unit, while at the same time managing to improve energy efficiency.

In addition, it has the same NVMe performance as the TLC models, and like them, with sub-millisecond latency and always-on data reduction. Their improvements, therefore, make it possible to reduce both the initial investment necessary for them to come into operation and long-term operating costs.

Dell PowerStore drives now have always-on cybersecurity capabilities. These include synchronous replication over Fiber Channel (FC) for block workloads, which eliminates data loss and reduces recovery times. They also feature asynchronous replication over FC for file systems, with RPOs of up to 5 minutes.

On the other hand, they offer Metro Sync for files with automatic failover, which guarantees both RPO and zero RTO on critical operations, as well as multi-party authorization, which requires validation from a second administrator to make critical changes to storage. They integrate PowerProtect and provide an AI-based anomaly detection system.

PowerStore’s unified architecture provides the opportunity to improve flexibility and efficiency by consolidating multiple workloads, and its enhancements make it easier to manage file environments with support for advanced NFSv4.2, which includes Server-Side Copy to lower network traffic, Sparse Files to optimize capacity, and Labeled NFS for secure file sharing.

Its new File Top Talkers feature provides detailed visibility into resource consumption, allows you to identify top users, monitor metrics such as IOPS and bandwidth, and apply quality of service policies to eliminate bottlenecks.
