Dia browser gets fan-favorite Arc features – 9to5Mac

The Browser Company has updated Dia, its AI-powered browser, with a few features that users liked about Arc. Here’s what’s new.

The Browser Company tries to win back Arc users

A few weeks ago, The Browser Company updated Dia with a handful of features, including Focus Mode, which originally appeared on Arc, the company’s first browser.

At the time, The Browser Company CEO Josh Miller said that more of “Arc’s greatest hits will be redesigned for Dia.”

Now, the company has updated Dia with a few extra features that first appeared on Arc, including a sidebar mode.

Commenting on an X post that asked if Dia was “just becoming” Arc, Miller explained that current vision for the browser is to adapt Arc’s greatest hits, while leveraging Dia’s superior architecture.

Here’s the X exchange:

Tbh we (or i really) duffed the comms in a bunch of ways, but…

1. Dia’s architecture is much better for AI, speed, security

2. We’re adapting Arc’s greatest hits to be native to Dia

3. Sidebar mode for Arc fans

Dia + Arc = snappier, smarter, simpler by default w/ Pro mode

As noted by News, the strategy may be working, at least for some users:

I’m daily-driving @diabrowser as a years-long Arc user and now an Early Bird, and I can say I’m so close to not miss Arc.

Dia browser now has:
– Focus mode
– Vertical tabs
– Pinned tabs (grid-view)
– Google Meet PIP

And I now wait for only three things before deleting Arc

With the AI-powered browser wars heating up, The Browser Company (now owned by Atlassian) can hardly afford to further alienate users who, at least once, showed a willingness to move away from their old browsers.

And while it is very clear that many Arc users still feel burned by The Browser Company’s sudden pivot to a new project, the company’s latest move to bring back so-called “fan favorites” might help repair some goodwill among those who end up deciding to give them a second chance.
