Apple unveiled its ambitious design at its WWDC 2025 dubbed Liquid Glass interface. The company rolled out its new interface across all its platforms including iOS 26, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and even VisionOS. The recently launched Liquid Glass interface is equipped with the translucent panels, layered blur effects, and fluid depth. All these features are inspired by the spatial nature of Vision Pro. However, the world seems to be divided in its reaction regarding Apple’s Liquid Glass interface.

Despite Apple’s effort and touting its newly launched interface as the ‘Gorgeous Design’, it has still sparked a wave of criticism. There are users who are labeling it as one of the ugliest thing Apple ever created. Additionally, users also mentioned about there are challenges while reading text in the new interface.

I was fired by Apple today.

Me and my design team have spent the last 18 months tirelessly testing different levels of gaussian blur on backgrounds when foreground elements are in focus.

If you are looking for experts in the blur, glass liquid, grass or fur UI space, lmk.

— Jon Yongfook (@yongfook) June 9, 2025

One of the major controversies began when Jon Yongfook, who is a design lead falsely claimed that he is an Apple employee and Apple CEO Tim Cook has fired him. He says on his X post, “I was fired by Apple today. Me and my design team have spent the last 18 months tirelessly testing different levels of Gaussian blur on backgrounds when foreground elements are in focus.”

He again says, “If you are looking for experts in the blur, glass liquid, grass or fur UI space, lmk.”

However, we didn’t find any credibility to this claim and even Apple has not announced that the company has fired any employee. The story appears to be a viral exaggeration spun from social media controversy.

The Liquid Glass design unveiled by Apple at WWDC 2025 has sparked a major controversy as some are comparing it with Windows Vista’s Aero interface, which was also heavy on glass visuals.

Despite the noise online, Apple hasn’t abandoned Liquid Glass and there is no Apple employee or designer from the company is fired. This  is just another case of internet outrage spiraling fiction into reality.
