I always thought I should upgrade to get the latest functions, but that is not the case. Thanks to long -term software support from companies such as Google and Samsung, older phones can still get a lot of love. And with the right tweaks I have succeeded in seriously stimulating the performance of my phone without spending a cent.

Try a few of these tips before you start shopping for a new device. It may be surprised how much better your phone can be performed with just a few small changes.

It is true: whether you have a Samsung Galaxy, Motorola or OnePlus telephone, you can probably still optimize your battery life and give your phone a new lease to life by making a few simple adjustments.

Note that there may be some differences between Android devices, and telephone manufacturers often put their own software on top of Android. Certain settings may be missing or in a different place, depending on the version of Android you use and the maker of your phone.

Settings to improve the life of your battery

Living with a phone with a bad battery life can be furious, but there are some steps you can take to maximize each load from the start:

1. Switch off the brightness of the car screen or adaptive brightness and set the clearance level slider at less than 50%

The brighter your screen, the more battery power it uses.

To get to the setting, pick up the shortcut menu from the top of the screen and adjust the slider if it is there. Some phones can have a switch for car clearance in the shortcut panel; Otherwise you must open the app settings and search for “brightness” to find and switch off the setting.

2. Use adaptive battery and battery optimization

These functions are aimed at learning how to use your phone, including which apps you use and when, and then to optimize the apps and the amount of battery they use.

Some Android phones have a special battery section in the app settings, while other phones (looking at you, Samsung) buries these settings. It is a bit different for every phone. I recommend opening your settings and searching for “battery” to find the right screen. Your phone can also have an adaptive charging setting that can check how quickly your telephone battery will charge at night to maintain health.

Why you should use a dark mode more often

Another way to improve the battery life and to help you save your eyes at the same time is to use Android’s special dark mode. Every Android telephone with Android 10 or newer has a special Dark Mode option.

According to Google, Dark mode not alone Reduces the voltage that smartphone displays to our eyes But also improves the battery life because less power is needed to display dark backgrounds on OLED displays (in most used flagship phones) then a white background.

Depending on which version of Android your phone runs and which company your phone has made, you may need to dig around the Settings app to find a dark mode. If your phone works Android 10 or newer, you can use the system -wide dark mode. If the Android 9 works, don’t despair. Lots of apps have their own dark fashion option in the settings that you can use, whether you have Android 10 or not.

Open the Institutions app and search for Dark mode” Dark theme or even Night mode (As Samsung likes to call it). I propose to always use the dark mode, but if you are not sure, you can always set the dark mode to switch on automatically based on a schedule, say every day from 7 pm to 7 am, or have it automatically switched based on your location at sunset and sunrise.

Keep your home screen free of junk

Plan to reach the Google Play Store for one Set new Android apps? Be prepared for a lot of icon mommel on your home screen, where shortcuts land every time you install something.

If you don’t want that, here is a simple way out: Long-Press on an empty part of your home screen and tap Settings. Find the option with the label something in the lines of the lines of Add icon to the home screen or Add new apps to the home screen And turn it off.

Presto – No more icons on the home screen when you install new apps. You can still add shortcuts by dragging the icon of an app from the app drawer, but they do not appear on your home screen unless you wish.

Do not disturb setting so that you can concentrate better

If your phone routinely spends the night on your bedside table, you probably don’t want to beep or buzzing every time there is a call, message or Facebook – especially if you try to sleep. Android offers a do not disther mode that keeps the phone more or less silent during the designated hours. On some phones this is called the downtime setting or even silent time.

Be on their way to Institutions > Sounds (or Reports), look for Do not disturb Or a similar name. If you can’t find it, look for the built -in search function in your settings.

With the help of the function you can set a series of hours if you want to switch off the digital noise. Don’t worry, all the notifications you get while you are not switched on, still wait for you when you wake up. You can also usually create an exception that allows repeated callers and the calls of favorite contacts. Switch on that. If someone calls you in an emergency, they are likely to keep trying.

Always be prepared in case you lose your phone or it has been stolen

Is there something worse than a lost or stolen phone? Only the knowledge that you could have detected it if you had engaged Google’s Find My Device function.

To prepare for a successful recovery, this is what you have to do: open the Institutions app and then search for Find my device. It is usually in the Security part of the Institutions App.
