A Minecraft Movie is finally in theaters, and everyone can now witness the epic bromance between Jack Black and Jason Momoa. The block-building adventure movie, based on the global hit video game, hit theaters on Friday.

The movie follows a simple premise: Four unlikely friends find themselves in the Overworld (the cubic pixelated game realm) and must work together to journey through hordes of zombies and battle pigs to find a peculiar orb (it’s a cube) to get back home. Black leads the film as OG craftsman Steve, opposite Momoa’s larger-than-life man-child, Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison. Wednesday alum Emma Myers plays Natalie, Sebastian Eugene Hansen is her younger brother, Henry, and Danielle Brooks rounds out the cast as Dawn.

You’re reading this article because you’re wondering if there may be a scene after the credits start rolling. The short answer is yes, there is a post-credits scene at the end of A Minecraft Movie. That’s not all. There’s also a fun snippet that happens mid-credits. Blockbuster movies based on popular IPs like this have obvious potential for future sequels. And what better way to whet an audience’s appetite than to throw some bonus clips into the mix as the credits roll?

A Minecraft Movie has a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene

Instead of one scene, two grace the screen during the credits. The mid-credits scene ties a bow around a side story that plays out throughout the movie, which follows Marlene (Jennifer Coolidge), Chuglass school’s recently divorced vice principal, and her new beau — a big-headed villager who escaped Overworld only to be hit by her Jeep Grand Cherokee.

As the adventure heightened for our heroes in the Overworld, A Minecraft Movie would check back in with Marlene and her new villager boyfriend here and there. She took him to a romantic dinner, and they quickly fell in love. He may have only known how to grunt his way through a conversation. But, as the villager says during the mid-credits scene, their love transcended all.

Supplying the voice for the villager is none other than What We Do in the Shadows alum Matt Berry. “When Marlene’s Jeep Grand Cherokee ran me over, I was struck by a love so powerful, it transcended the barriers of conventional speech,” he says to Marlene’s jealous ex-husband Clemente. “Now I speak human, and she speaks villager.”

After knowing Marlene for barely 24 hours, the villager asks her to marry him. She says yes.

The post-credits scene finds Steve in the real world, returning to his old house in the small town of Chuglass, Idaho. After he knocks, a redhead answers the door. He inquires about an old treasure chest he left inside, and she welcomes him in. We never see her face, but we do get her name. It’s Alex, a character that has to be based on the second default Minecraft playable character introduced to the game back in 2014.

What does the A Minecraft Movie post-credit scene mean?

There’s no firm announcement that a sequel is in the cards. Still, having a brief interlude with Alex — who ends up being Steve’s love interest in the game –, it’s safe to say that director Jared Hess and the folks at Mojang Studios are leaving the possibility open for another Minecraft movie to be made.

During the official press day for A Minecraft Movie, I asked if more movies were planned. Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of original content and entertainment at Minecraft, gave an elusive answer.

“A really important aspect to Minecraft is you can modify and tweak it,” he said. “It’s relatively easy for you to change the textures or add another creature or change the game modes. So, that alone means it’s a pretty big world. Then, on top of that, there’s no linear narrative, and every time someone generates a world and presses play, a unique world gets generated.”

Now, that wasn’t a yes. But it sure wasn’t a no. It’s safe to say that this movie’s global turnout has the potential to be massive. Considering that Alex has been introduced into the mix, there’s a strong possibility that this end-credits scene is planting the seeds for a new Minecraft adventure to blossom on the big screen. Honestly, it’d be a no-brainer.
