Google has just dropped the perfect smartphone deal, letting you buy the Pixel 9 Pro for the same price as Apple’s iPhone 16.

If the time has come for you to move on up from your existing handset, then it only makes sense to try and get as much bang for your buck as possible. As much as I love iOS and Apple’s ecosystem, I don’t think that Android can be beat on pure value, a sentiment that’s just gone even further thanks to this particular offer.

Head on over to Amazon right now and you can buy the flagship Pixel 9 Pro for just £799, which is a massive £200 saving on the phone’s original RRP. While you could buy the iPhone 16 for the same price, I think that Google’s device is the better buy for most people.

The flagship Pixel 9 Pro is now the same price as the iPhone 16 and the Samsung Galaxy S24, making it a bargain buy for anyone looking to nab tons of features on their next upgrade, without spending too much money.

If you’re waist-deep in Apple’s ecosystem, with a MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch and even a pair of AirPods in tow then fair enough, you’ll probably be happier with the iPhone 16, but for everyone else, go for the Pixel.

For starters, you’re going to get a much better camera experience. Google has long been known for its unbelievable computational processing which turns even boring snaps into Instagram worthy pictures almost instantly. In his four-star review for the phone, Mobiles Editor Lewis Painter had this to say:

“The 48MP 5x telephoto is one of my favourites on the market right now. It might not have the same extreme levels of zoom offered by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Honor Magic 6 Pro, capping out at 30x, but the upside is that all photos in that range will be of a decent quality. I’m not sure you can say the same for anything above the 30-50x mark on competing telephoto lenses.”

Unlike the iPhone 16, which unfortunately still bears a 60Hz refresh rate, you’re getting a far more modern experience on the Pixel with a 120Hz rate that’s buttery smooth and perfect for scrolling through apps quickly.

It’s also worth pointing out that Android is leading the charge right now where AI features are concerned. While I have no doubt that Apple Intelligence is going to be far more robust in the future, it just doesn’t hold up to its lofty promises at present, while Google Gemini and AI-boosted editing features are incredibly useful on the Pixel 9 Pro.

While Apple has long set the standard on software and security updates, the Pixel 9 Pro now comes with a promise of seven years of support, ensuring that this is a phone that will last you well into the future.

At just £799, the Pixel 9 Pro is a true bargain, and you’re also far more likely to find cheaper earbuds and smartwatches to pair with it, compared with the prices that Apple charges for its own-brand tech.
