SKY and Virgin Media customers will notice a major shake-up in days as eight channels are axed.
Fan favourites, including MTV, will disappear forever at the end of the month.
December 31 will mark the end for more than just the calendar year, as long-running music and kids’ channels depart Sky and Virgin Media boxes.
Broadcasters are set to overhaul their line-ups ahead of the new year, with eight channels closing permanently and vanishing from the electronic programme guide (EPG) in early January.
The biggest losses are music channels from the MTV stable.
MTV Music, Club MTV, MTV 90s, and MTV 80s are all on the chopping block, with MTV Music switching off on December 31 before being removed from the EPG on January 6.

Sky has confirmed the channel closures at the end of December will be final.
