Last week, Chinese robotics firm EngineAI announced the upcoming release of the SA02, which the company describes as “the first humanoid robot for young people.” Priced at 38,500 yuan (about $5,500), the company said it hopes to bring humanoid robots out of factories and into people’s daily lives. The SA02 — a 1.25-meter-tall, 25-kilogram humanoid with a slender build and 28 degrees of freedom — is designed with a focus on companionship, according to EngineAI. Equipped with a large language model, it supports intelligent interaction and includes high-fidelity speakers and dual high-definition cameras for voice conversation and gesture recognition.
