ESPN has announced changes to the upcoming CFP, which include a new kickoff time for the legendary Rose BowlCredit: Getty

ESPN and the CFP revealed the dates and kickoff times for the 2025 season.

However, it’s been uncovered that the Rose Bowl kickoff time has changed.

The Rose Bowl usually kicks off at 5:00 pm ET, but it will be moved up one hour earlier to 4:00 pm ET under the new changes.

So the two other New Year’s Day tripleheader matchups will also move up an hour.

And the Orange Bowl will begin at noon ET and the Sugar Bowl will kick off at 8:00 pm ET.

The Rose Bowl had previously led into the Sugar Bowl, meaning the latter game would start around 9:00 pm ET.

The CFP shared their reasoning for the changes in a press release.

“This New Year’s Day schedule adjustment is the result of a thoughtful collaboration between the CFP, ESPN, the Capital One, Orange Bowl, the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential, and the Allstate Sugar Bowl,” CFP executive director Rich Clark said.

“All three bowls shifting their start times allows us to place each game in an ideal window on New Year’s Day and provide the optimal viewing experience.

“New Year’s Day and college football are synonymous with each other, and these changes only strengthen that relationship.”

The new kickoff times will be permanent moving forward, per The Athletic’s Chris Vannini.

The Cotton Bowl will begin the major bowl slate on New Year’s Eve at 7:30 pm ET.

This year, the Fiesta Bowl and the Peach Bowl will be semifinal games.

Both will kick off at 7:30 pm ET on January 8 and 9, respectively.
