In conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, WayMeet Limited is recalling four models of their ESR wireless power banks.
These power banks are being recalled following 29 reports of the lithium-ion battery catching fire and exploding across the US and Canada. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the fires have caused at least $30,000 of property damage in the US.
Recalled models
The four models included in the recall are:
- 2G520
- 2G505B
- 2G512B
- 2G505

Additionally, the CPSC describes them as follows:
“ESR” is printed on the back and the model numbers are printed on the right side of the pocket-size power banks. Model 2G505 was sold in black and white. Models 2G520, 2G505B and 2G512B were sold in dark blue, light blue, gray, white and black. All recalled models have five circular LED display lights on one side.
The power banks were sold online at Amazon, ESR’s website, and Home Depot from September 2022 through July 2025 in the United States and Canada.
What you should do
If you have one of the recalled power banks, stop using it immediately. You can get a refund from WayMeet:
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power banks and contact Waymeet for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to send to [email protected] their order number (not required) and a photo of the recalled power bank showing the model number with the word “Recalled” written on it in permanent marker. Consumers should dispose of the power banks in accordance with local and state hazardous waste disposal regulations.
It is illegal to dispose of recalled lithium-ion batteries in the trash, regular recycling streams, or even standard battery recycle bins. For those in the US, the CPSC says you will need to “contact your municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection center” to find out how to properly dispose of the battery. For those in Canada, Health Canada says to “dispose of it by contacting your municipality for instructions on how to safely transport and dispose of lithium-ion batteries”.
Final thoughts
As a reminder, all lithium-ion batteries are subject to these issues, which is why it is important to always purchase from reputable brands like ESR. This reduces the likelihood of there being issues in the first place, but critically, it makes sure that any issues will be identified and rectified through a recall like this one.
