Subs.com, the new content creation platform created by OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely (pictured) is launching a tool wherein subscribers can receive a share of the revenue earned by creators they follow, UKTN can exclusively reveal.

Stokely, who founded OnlyFans – currently valued by Dealroom at $8bn (£5.9bn) – in 2016, launched the rival content creation platform Subs earlier this year, having stepped down as chief executive of his former company, best known for its adult entertainers, in 2021.

He announced the launch of the new site in May, which similarly allows creators to offer paid access to content to subscribing fans as well as personal messages and calls.

At the time of the launch, Stokely said he was not simply “building on what’s been done before”, and that the new service’s features were conceived of after extensive discussions with digital content creators.

Speaking to UKTN, Stokely revealed that among Subs’ distinguishing features is a new tool that will allow content creators to turn their fans into paid promoters.

The tool, called Subs Boost, works similarly to affiliate link schemes often used in ecommerce by companies such as Amazon and Adidas.

With Subs Boost, creators can give their subscribers unique share links, earning them money for every subscription secured via their link.

“It’s a first on a creator platform, where the subscriber can earn too and it is a win-win because the creators grow faster because they have got all this extra promotion,” Stokely said.

Stokely described the move as the “next evolvement of the creator economy” that would “empower creators by letting them use the same tools that big brands do”.

Though exact figures that subscribers can earn were not shared, Stokely described the potential earning power of participants as significant.

“The scale is huge, I think it is unlimited. You can imagine as the Subs brand and platform continues to grow, the amount of opportunity within that comes from Subs Boost is only going to increase.”

The OnlyFans creator believes his new venture can be big, perhaps even on the scale of his previous company, but despite Subs operating in a similar market, Stokely said he is not motivated by competing with his former business.

“I’m incredibly proud of my past experiences […] my motivation is purely to develop this roadmap we have as quickly as possible, to get these new features onto the platform that are going to help creators and, ultimately the platform, grow.”
