The food industry must continue advancing towards a more competitive, efficient and resilient model. In this process, automation and the use of emerging technologies are positioned as key levers to reduce operational costs, improve productivity and optimize logistics and resource management. As a positive collateral effect, these transformations also favor a significant reduction of emissions, energy and water consumption, as well as the generation of waste and losses.
In this context, F4F – Expo Foodtech 2025, which will be held simultaneously with Pick & Pack for Food Industry From May 13 to 15 at the Bec de Bilbaoit is consolidated as the International Fair in which it will be analyzed The role that technology can play in the transformation of the food production system. The event will bring together great global voices, business leaders, institutions and technological startups to discuss solutions that allow the sector to move towards a more efficient, digital and environmental automated model.
Among them will be recognized professionals such as Silvia Canals, Head of Sustainability of Danone; CEO of companies such as Eroski, Nueva Pescanova, Campofrío, Delaviuda, GB Foods or Tutti Food Group, specialized in prepared and ultra -grained culinary solutions, or representatives of companies such as Capsa Food or UVESA. All of them will address the need for take urgent measures to improve efficiency of the food system, reduce production costs and respond to current consumer demands, through initiatives such as process robotization, commitment to circular raw materials or collaboration with other industries and public administrations.
Expo Foodtech 2025: AI and automation
One of the main axes of the event will be how digitalization and exponential technologies, with the prominence of artificial intelligence, are promoting the Energy efficiency in the food sphere. In this sense, Pol Torres, responsible for the AI Energy & Agrifood Research Line in Eurecat, and John Amin, founder and advisor to the 3D printing consultancy, Intech3D, together with a gashor expert – specialized organization in the management and efficient manipulation of industrial ingredients – they will delve into the potential of the AI with which you can automate processes, redu strategic decisions and maximize the performance of resources.
Resources that, in the same way, can be optimized from the realization of energy audits, the implementation of efficient equipment or the use of IoT initiatives in the distribution of water, among other possibilities. On this, representatives of Christeyns chemistry will investigate the firm focused on food security, Biomérieux and Newheat, the leading renewable heat supplier for large consumers, industry and urban heating, who will also value how digital solutions allow to lower operational costs while decreasing the environmental impact.
In addition, Expo Foodtech 2025 will highlight the innovations that have emerged in robotics to provide more productive capacity to workflowspromoting competitiveness while promoting sustainable practices. Urko Esnaola, Head of Robotics for Industrial Flexibility Platform in Tecnalia, and Luis Manuel Martinez, Food & Bevenge Vertical Market Manager at Beckhoff Automation, among others, will be responsible for sharing the revolution that is causing automation in the responsible elaboration of food.
UPCyCling and Sustainable Packaging: Innovation with positive impact
Expo Foodtech 2025 will also be the space in which the revaluation of waste and by -products through UPCyClingfrom the hand leaders of the competitiveness cluster of the agri -food sector in the region of Valonia, Wagralim, or the cooperative dedicated to the production of potatoes, Udapa. This practice allows to transform agricultural waste into new ingredients, energy products such as biomass or bioplastic, generating new business opportunities and reducing waste.
In fact, the scenarios of the Fair will raise the advances that have been made in terms of sustainable packaging to adjust to the new European regulations, which promote reusable and disposable containers. Cristina Rodríguez, responsible for sustainability of Eroski; Izaro Martínez, Marketing Director of Café Fortaleza; María Alcántara, responsible legumes and quality of the Garlan cooperative; Ignacio Malcorra, director in insalus water; and Arantza Madariaga, managing director of the Public Foundation dedicated to agri -food security, Elika, will reflect on solutions and regulations around packaging and packaging, which allow to reduce the environmental load without compromising the food guarantee.
