FACEBOOK and Instagram have gone down in a massive social media outage.
Hundreds of users have reported that they cannot comment or read comments on the popular Meta-owned apps.
While the feed, profiles and stories loaded for many, it seemed like the comments were the biggest problem on Instagram.
Over 500 reports of problems on Insta have been flagged at the time of writing, according to downdetector.
The outage tracking website saw a spike in the number of reports today just before 1pm in the UK.
Many Facebook users began reporting issues with the platform at that same time.
Some users in both the UK and US also encountered other technical problems while using the meta-owned apps.
Many reported that even though their stories and pictures have comments, they weren’t able to view any of them.
One user said: “I see comments, but when I click on them it says no comments, start the conversation.
“When I put comment it disappears.”
On Facebook, users have started reporting that they can’t even log in to the platform.
One disgruntled social media user wrote: “I signed out a little while ago and it was fine.
“Now I’m getting an error message trying to sign back in!”
So far, one third of the complaints reported on Tuesday morning have involved logging in.
And those who were already logged in have not been safe as issues with the Facebook app and website raged on.
It comes after a major outage less than a month ago left WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok all out of action.
Many users took to social media to ask other people if they were experiencing the same problems.
Reports had initially come in of failures with WhatsApp but these later extended to the full set of Meta apps as well as TikTok.
